I truly believe that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn. Most importantly, the entire family benefits from getting some zz’s!

My approach to improving your child’s sleep is pretty simple:

The most important step in creating a personalized sleep training plan is you! I take the time to get to know your child, your family and your personal parenting style. The goal is to create a space and method within your environment that works for your family, so we get into detail about your child’s current sleep habits and environment.

I’ll give you honest information about WHY sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits. Next, A Step-by-step, personalized sleep training plan

I’ll lay out an easy-to-follow, step-by-step plan that lets you make some choices about what is the right approach for your child. All children are different, and nobody knows your child better than you do. I encourage you to use your knowledge of your child to customize his or her sleep plan. How your child responds to praise, discipline, etc. are all taken into account to come up with an effective sleep plan.

Lastly, I’ll show you how to measure success–There WILL BE SUCCESS!

(No, you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep 12 uninterrupted hours on the first night–although it does happen! I’ll tell you what you should expect along the way. You and your child will be learning a lot of new skills and there may be some changes that will take getting used to, I’m here for you, every step of the way to coach you as you get your child to sleep through the night!

 Should I Use The Cry it Out Method to Get Your child to sleep through the night?

I get this question A LOT – does my sleep training method involves letting your child “cry it out” method?

While most books and programs dealing with child sleep issues take philosophical stands (based largely around the issue of “crying it out”), I believe that your child’s sleep is more important than any expert’s personal views on this subject. That’s why my personal approach to sleep training places so much emphasis on accommodating different parenting styles.

Will My Child Cry During This Process?

Crying is your child’s way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. That’s why I’m always sure to tell parents that my program will most likely involve at least some amount of protest on the child’s part. The bottom line is that you, as a parent, need to be comfortable with your new sleep plan in order for it to work for your child.

You will not be asked to ignore their cries!

Please understand that I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. The reason that the Sleep Sense™ Method is so effective is that we develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child.

And Now, A Sleep Story…

I cannot begin to express the gratitude my husband and I feel towards Andi. We were in a giant rut with a toddler and an 11 month old that had co-slept with me since day 1. (Meaning my husband was sleeping in a different room.) I loved the closeness that co-sleeping brought to my babe and I, but in all honesty, both of our sleep was suffering severely. She was such a light sleeper, and any movement of mine would wake her up, and I’d have to nurse her back to sleep. This would happen 6-8 times a night. Because we were awake so often, her daily wake ups were often late, resulting in an even later bedtime and worse nighttime sleep. It was impossible to predict when nap time should be so it was almost always on the go in an ergo. I had to entertain the toddler too you know. We were in the most frustrating loop that seemed like it would never end. I was so overtired, as was she! And I had very little positive energy for my family during the day. I was mentally drained and exhausted. I have always been so nervous to try sleep training, (we weren’t successful with my first because I could stick with it) because hearing a child cry breaks my heart. But I knew I needed to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to bring happiness and sleep back to myself and family! I knew I had to call Andi. She was such a pleasure to work with. She created a custom plan for me so fast (she could sense my desperation😂), and was available to talk with me right away. She put my mind at ease, helped me to change my perspective on infant crying, and instilled so much confidence in myself and my husband that we could do this and we could sleep (in the same room) again! I was allowed to be in the room with my daughter when she cried the most, which greatly increased the likelihood that I would stay consistent and stick to the plan. I was allowed to comfort my daughter often in the beginning when it was new to both of us. She was changing EVERYTHING about her sleep habits! To my biggest surprise, she did wonderfully!! She was sleeping through the night by night 2 (with a few but very short wake ups). She is waking up at the same time every day, taking naps at the same time every day and going to bed at the same time every day now (give or take 15-30 minutes). This allows us to MAKE PLANS!! What a concept! My husband and I can watch movies in the evenings together again; we hadn’t done this in two and a half years! I literally had not had a decent nights rest in 3 years! Now I’m in bed by 9 or 10 and sleeping soundly until 6am. My world is so tremendously different and better because of Andi’s help. I cannot thank her enough or recommend her enough.
